The Intersection of Care and Housing
The Intersection of Care and Housing
Looking back on our past year, one highlight was taking part in CareOS, an innovation workshop by The Holding Co. that explores the challenges and opportunities we face in caring for our kids and elders.
Throughout the 6-month program, we learned from brilliant people working against economic headwinds to make it easier for us all to raise kids, grow old, and build community. CareOS was a valuable opportunity for us to step beyond our world of housing and real estate development, and consider the broader landscape of care needs. The workshop energized and inspired us, affirming the massive demand for housing that better supports the ways we live today. As detailed in Courtney Martin's summary, the housing affordability crisis and the lack of elder- and childcare options are complex, but the intersection of these issues can be fertile ground for new solutions. Going forward, we're excited to continue weaving care into our work and keep dreaming with our fellow cohort members. Special thanks to Danielle Cohn, who is keeping us connected after the program and charting a path for how we can all deepen our impact through collaboration across industries.
